We’re celebrating Matariki at the Focus Paihia Op Shop this month! Sandy has created a fabulous window display, complete with information about Matariki and its significance, so be sure to stop by and take a look next time you’re in town.
Unfortunately, we also have some disappointing news to share. Our Focus Paihia truck was recently vandalised and, as a result, we are temporarily unable to offer our furniture collection service while repairs are carried out. Focus Paihia custodians Simon and Lee do an incredible job around town, supported by Terry Smith and his trusty team of lifters. The truck is an integral part of the work they do on behalf of our community, so it is extremely disappointing that someone thought damaging it was acceptable. Incidents like this don't just affect an organisation, they impact our whole community. We hope to see the Focus Paihia truck back out and about on our streets again very soon.
In the meantime, our furniture room is looking rather empty! If you have furniture or larger items you would like to donate, please send a photo to the shop phone and we will contact you to arrange collection once the truck is operational again.
Op Shop mobile: 021 081 74665 | Our opening hours remain Monday to Friday: 10am–4pm, Saturday: 10am–1pm, Sunday: Closed
During these hours, please feel free to bring your donations directly into the shop. Our team will be happy to quickly advise what we are able to accept and what we are unable to take. We're also pleased to report that our issue with items being left outside the shop after hours appears to have settled down. Thank you to everyone in the community who has respected our request and refrained from leaving donations in the lanes when the shop is closed. Your support and consideration are greatly appreciated.
As is often the case at this time of year, many of our volunteers are taking some well-earned time away over winter, so you may spot a few familiar faces stepping in to help cover the absences of our holidaying team. By September, we'll all be back up to full strength and ready for another busy season.
We look forward to seeing you again soon at the Focus Paihia Op Shop.
Sandy, Wendy, John and the Focus Paihia volunteers
